A KIND-hearted Upwell pensioner who did not want anything for her 90th birthday decided instead to help a charity.

Evelyn Swann asked family and friends for donations instead of gifts for her milestone birthday and was astounded when she discovered they had raised a massive £420.

“I’ve got so many ornaments, I didn’t want any more,” Evelyn said. “After all, they all need dusting,” she joked.

Evelyn decided to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance after hearing a talk at the Upwell Sisterhood, the group she attends fortnightly. Mary Dunn, from the Air Ambulance, received the cheque on Tuesday.
