All existing and would-be landlords are invited to a free evening event being staged by the National Landlords Association (NLA) and Fenland District Council next month.
It will include advice on a range of issues including insurance and legal advice and highlight the support that is available from the NLA and the benefits of membership.
It will be led by NLA local representative Mike Bowles and feature a number of guest speakers. There will also be an opportunity to meet representatives from FDC’s housing options and benefits teams.
The meeting is at 6pm on Wednesday, October 2. It is the first time the NLA and FDC have worked together on such a project.
Councillor Chris Seaton, FDC’s portfolio holder responsible for housing, said: “Landlords have many responsibilities and need to be able to handle all the many issues that can arise with their tenants. This event gives anyone who is currently a landlord – and anyone thinking of becoming one – a great chance to raise any questions or issues they may have.
“Our housing options and benefits teams are always happy to lend their support and we have our own advice pack.”
Mr Bowles said: “Working with the council and departments such as the local fire and police services give everyone peace of mind that they’re receiving the best possible advice.
“This is going to be the first of many branch meetings in Fenland and those landlords who are already members along with prospective landlords will benefit from the experience and expertise that the NLA will bring.”
The NLA represents the interests of 1.4 million landlords in the UK, ranging from full-time landlords with large property portfolios to those with houses of multiple occupancy (HMOs) or with single bedroom flats.
With more than 50 acts of Parliament and over 70 sets of regulations governing the private rented sector, it is more important than ever that landlords understand the legal and regulatory environment in which they manage their lettings.
