ELM Road School at Wisbech has said a fond farewell to parent and helper Hayley Lockey after 13 years.

Hayley has played a key role in the Friends of the school, including as treasurer for around seven years.

She is someone who has been great at helping to organise many things for the school.

Michelle Youngs, chairman of the Friends group, said Hayley has been “our saviour for everything”. Michelle said it is the “end of an era” losing Hayley, who has been a helper during the time her three children have been at the school.

As the Year 6 children move on, Hayley, whose children will have also now all left the school, will be ending her time at Elm Road.

The Friends and staff held a surprise presentation for Hayley at the Year 6 party when she was presented with flowers, a personalised card and a montage of photographic memories of events at the school.

“She has just been such amazing support to the school and our group. It will be strange
without her but we hope she will keep in touch,” said Hayley.

Over 30 Year 6 pupils who left the school at the
end of term enjoyed a party with a disco and buffet which had been organised by the Friends and staff.
