A series of arts events at libraries across Fenland has been launched on community website: ShapeYourPlace by Cambridgeshire County Council Libraries.
‘Arts Alive in Libraries’ is a programme that looks to transform libraries into places where the local community can enjoy and take part in art activities and performances. It is funded as part of the Library Development Initiative from the Arts Council, England.
There will be a wide range of events and activities from comedy clubs to a community TV project. The initiative has been developed as a partnership with the new CS3 Arts Consortia and Cambridgeshire Libraries, with Library Friends groups across Fenland taking a lead in deciding what will take place in their local library.
Cambridgeshire County Councillor David Harty, Cabinet Member for Learning, said “Libraries are at the heart of their communities, and this opportunity shows community decision making and involvement in action. It will also showcase the opportunity to use libraries for an exciting range of events and activities.”
The first two activities start at Chatteris Library with Event Management training for 13-19 year olds starting November 16 and a Manga drawing workshops on 24th November and 8th December.
