The Salvation Army has launched its annual Christmas food appeal, in partnership with Holiday With Us.

Envoys Russell and Alison Day went to the Wisbech branch of the independent travel agents on Friday to launch the start of the collection.

The food collected will be used to make up Christmas food parcels for needy local families and anything left over will be donated to food banks.

The main collection point for food will be in Holiday With Us, on Wisbech Market Place, and in the March branch on High Street. There is a bin in the shop where items can be placed.

A wide range of items can be donated but they should all be in date and non-perishable, so no fresh fruit and vegetables or bakery goods, please.

The Salvation Army is also running its annual toy appeal, with Co-operative Travel based in Beales at Wisbech. Just take in your toy and put them in Santa’s suitcase and they will be given out as gifts to children who wouldn’t necessarily get one.
