English language pupils from a school in Holland have spent a day at Wisbech Grammar School putting their skills to the test.
The party of 39 pupils aged 12 to 14 from the Christelijk College de Noordgouw dropped into the school during a five-day visit to England that included evensong at King’s College, Cambridge, and a stay in London that took in climbing the dome of St Paul’s Cathedral and watching a performance of ‘The Lion King’ in the West End.

The members of the Dutch group are following the Cambridge English for Speakers of Other Languages programme.

English teacher Miss Heidi Scholten, who was accompanying the Dutch school’s fourth visit to Wisbech, said: “The purpose of the visit is to let the students practise their English in a realistic way and to see whether they are actually at a level that they are able to communicate with English people.”
