THERE will be the opportunity to drag youngsters away from their computers and video games this summer when live entertainment returns to Chatteris.
Chatteris Town Council will be running its annual Summer Fun shows at 11am every Friday starting this week (July 27) through to August 17.
This year the venue is the King Edward Centre because last year the shows were so successful that too many youngsters and their parents, grandparents or childminders were packing in to the Bricstan Room.
The shows will last for about 50 minutes and the good news is there will once again be no charge. The only stipulation is that all youngsters must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Although the shows are primarily aimed at three to nine year olds, younger and older members of the family have, in the past, found the shows equally entertaining.
The fun begins this Friday with the Bangers and Mash Theatre Company presenting their interpretation of the well known story ‘The Pied Piper of Hamlin’. The following week there will be madcap fun with local clown Stripey Wipey and on August 10 the Booster Cushion Theatre will return with their new, Olympics-inspired show ‘Hansel, Gretel and You...Who?’.
Bringing the series of shows to a close on August 26 there will be jester fun with Chatteris-based entertainers Devilstick Peat and Dragonfly.
There is no need to book for the shows, just turn up on the day and enjoy the fun.
