FOUR Grammar School pupils are hoping to prove they’re tough guys later this month when they take on one of the country’s most challenging races.

Hamish Burrows-McGill (17), Jordan Burt (16), Josh Timms (17) and Oliver Porter (17) are taking part in the Nancherrow Tough Guy race in Staffordshire on January 30 and hope their efforts will raise as much money as possible in memory of fellow Grammar School pupil Jack Thulborn (16), who died of leukaemia in November.

The friends want to raise money for Ward C10 at Addenbrookes’ Hospital in Cambridge, where Jack received treatment for his illness, after it was diagnosed in March last year.

The Tough Guy challenge sees competitors plunging into freezing muddy water, climbing nets, crawling through tunnels and walking through fire.

Oliver said the group had been discussing doing the race and had already decided to have a go. They then decided it would be nice to raise money in memory of Jack at the same time.

Anyone wanting to sponsor the group can do so via reception at the Grammar School in North Brink, Wisbech.
