A NEW book has been released featuring the images of well-known Wisbech photographer Lilian Ream.
The hardback book, titled “From Cradle to Grave in a Fenland Town”, has around 150 photographs of Fenland life, from portraits to community events.
It was put together by Robert Bell, chairman of the Lilian Ream Trust, and Colin Wilkinson, who also published the book through his company Bluecoat Press.
Colin, who lives in Liverpool, got in touch with the Trust after unknowingly purchasing more than 3,000 Lilian Ream negatives in an auction.
A number of the glass negatives have been purchased by the Trust, thanks to grants from the Hudson Foundation and the Wisbech Society, and the plan is to digitally scan them to preserve the historic images.
The book costs £18.99 and is available locally from EtCetera in Bridge Street, Wisbech, the Wisbech and Fenland Museum, Fully Booked in Wisbech High Street, WH Smith and the Wisbech Tourist Information Centre. It can also be purchased online from companies including Amazon and Waterstones.
