Newton came out in force on Saturday for a whole village celebration.
A fete on the playing field saw hundreds of people flock there to browse the stalls, play games and take part in races.
The playing field has been an ongoing project for the past four years and its completion was marked by the unveiling of a permanent notice and plaque. The playing field has been given Queen Elizabeth II status, which was unveiled by Steve Tierney and Cllr Doug Fullbrook.
This weekend also saw the first church flower festival in living memory at St James’ Church, with lots of imaginative displays from parishioners.
