A FAMILY has raised a fantastic £1,700 for Cancer Research.
The money was raised in memory of Wisbech man Trevor Lightfoot, who died on June 13, 2011.
Trevor (57), who was a keen golfer and a member of March Golf Club, had bowel cancer which then spread to his liver.
He was commercial manager at Wisbech’s Kier Eastern and his family decided to hold the Trevor Lightfoot Memorial Charity Golf Day at the March club in his memory and raise money to help others.
Wife Vanita said the money is specifically for research into helping to stop cancer from spreading.
The family had a lot of support for the day from friends and businesses who sponsored golf holes, gave donations and raffle prizes.
Vanita said family and friends also baked cakes which were available at the half-way stage of the 18-hole competition.
Helping Vanita organise the successful event was friend Maria Taylor-Vassall.
A total of 56 players entered in teams of four and a meal and presentation was held after the competition.
The family want to thank everyone for their help and support and Vanita said they plan to make it a yearly event in Trevor’s memory.
