AROUND 40 beautiful blooms on the theme of “Hope and Glory” deck Wisbech’s St Peter’s Church for the traditional Rose Fair Festival.
The church is buzzing with hundreds of visitors, admiring the flowers and enjoying lunches and cream teas.
The theme reflects the hope for the London Olympics and the glory associated with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Design co-ordinators were Lesley Beeton, Ann Purt and John Richmond.
Money raised from the flower festival goes to the maintenance and restoration of the church, which is 900 years-old.
The many aspects of the Olympics past and forthcoming are reflected in the displays including a magnificent Olympic Rings and Torch relay display with the ring symbols suspended from the ceiling above a floral torch.
Arrangements also reflect the Coronation and street parties, the Army, RAF and Royal Navy, the Commonwealth, music from the ages, Royal Ascot and the glory of the universe.
There are also flower festivals in the Baptist, United Reformed and Trinity Methodist churches.
Outside, stalls pack St Peter’s gardens, selling everything from cake and crafts to plants and homewares.
