The latest March garden to be opened to the public is unveiled on Saturday.

Public-spirited gardeners in the town are throwing open their gates this summer to help raise money for St Peter’s and St Mary’s churches in March.

And George and Margery Payne are next up when they invite you to see their wildlife friendly country garden at The Farmhouse, Middle Road (sat nav PE15 0AJ) between 10am and 12.30pm on Saturday.

Their pride and joy has been tended organically for more than 25 years and includes shrubs and borders, a small pond and a kitchen garden, where several heritage varieties of vegetables are grown.

Coffee and cakes and plants will be available to purchase. On Saturday, June 25, there are three gardens open – Rev Jenny Webb, 3 Wherry Close, 10am to 12pm, 2.30pm lunch, 2pm to 4pm ice creams; Margaret Dunham, 7 Wherry Close, 10am to 12pm coffee, 2pm to 4pm cream teas; John and Anne Hill, 5 Wherry Close.
