Have your say

THERE was no hesitation from Alanna Jackson as she bravely lost her locks to say thank you for her mum’s cancer treatment.

The Wisbech veterinary nurse, who works at Paddons Veterinary Surgery, put herself in the capable hands of James Quinan from Moda Hair and had her head shaved.

Alanna has been raising money for the cancer ward at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and her total stands at around £1,000 so far.

Her mum, Jeanette, has been undergoing treatment at the hospital for a terminal frontal lobe brain tumour in a bid to give her some more time.

Jeanette was at the vets on Friday evening to see her daughter undertake her headshave.

“There were a few tears,” Alanna said. “But it went very well.

“It feels very liberating to be bald. It’s quite good. But I found a downside with the midges – normally you can’t feel them when you have hair but they were crawling all over my head!”

Alanna thanked everyone who has donated cash so far, particularly Mucky Pups who held a sponsored grooming day to help her, raising £300, and Mr Paddon for letting her hold the fundraiser and use the vets to collect donations.

She is still collecting money, which can be donated at the vets on Elm Low Road, Wisbech.
