AN Elm couple have used their wedding anniversary celebrations to raise money for a good cause.

Myra and Raymond Briston, who live at The Dale, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on February 26 but instead of receiving presents, asked their party guests to give a donation to Help for Heroes.

Following the party, which was held at Emneth Central Hall, the couple were astounded to discover they had raised £670. A further donation, topped up by Mr Briston, rounded off the total to £700.

Help for Heroes is a cause close to Mr Briston’s heart, as he served four years in the RAF and he knows what a difference the charity makes to soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The couple are happy about reaching the impressive marriage milestone and Mr Bristow added: “It’s a great achievement to get to 50 years. It’s been marvellous and I’ve got a wonderful wife.”
