THE organisers of Gorefield annual show battled with the elements to make sure Saturday’s 50th event was able to take place.
Friday’s gales meant the tents couldn’t be put up as normal and this left the organisers with a crack of dawn start on Saturday to get everything in place even though the winds were still very strong.
With the weather in mind, secretary Jo Mitchell said she had calls from people checking to see if it would still go ahead.
However, the show was a success with all the events going ahead as planned.
“It went great considering. We were really up against it with the wind,” said Jo.
She said the heavy horses were fantastic and good entries were received in the pony qualifiers. There was a great atmosphere with a band playing.
Visitors also enjoyed a spitfire flypast and a host of other attractions including a novelty dog show.
