WISBECH Stroke Club has been awarded £2,900 from the Comic Relief fund administered by Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.
The grant is to cover on-going club costs such as the hire of Wisbech Library facilities for meetings, use of local community car schemes, exercise instructors, sports activities and also outings and events.
“This grant has made an enormous difference to the club as it means we can keep running for another year,” said chairman, Sue Lowe.
The main purpose of the club is to share social opportunities, information and general support between the members who are stroke survivors and their carers, friends, family and other volunteers.
The club meets on the second and last Fridays of each month, usually at the library from 1.15pm to 2.45pm.
The club is keen to recruit more members in the Wisbech area. If you are, or know of, a stroke survivor or if you are a GP or other health or social care worker aware of someone who may be interested in joining, get in touch with Sue on 01945-772824 or email email@example.com.
