MEMBERS of Breathe Easy Fenland (part of the British Lung Foundation’s network of local support groups for lung sufferers) are repeating lung testing sessions which proved popular last year.
These will be at St Peter’s Church Hall in March at 10.30am on June 20.
Anyone who wants to come along during the morning is asked to call group organiser Sylvia Mansfield on 01354-651821 to arrange an appointment to see the respiratory physiotherapist carrying out the tests.
The group is also raising awareness of the potential hazards of asbestos when carrying out DIY tasks and is backing the British Lung Foundation’s ‘Take 5 and Stay Alive’ campaign.
New figures from the Foundation show that 76 percent of people surveyed in this area thought that all asbestos used in buildings stopped in the 1970s and 80s but it was used in buildings as recently as 1999 when all forms were banned.
The local group is using Breathe Easy Week to raise awareness about asbestos and will be having a stand with detailed information at the lung testing session.
People are welcome to come along and find out more about asbestos and the risks - no need to make an appointment unless it is for the lung testing.
