NHS Cambridgeshire encourages employers to support smokers to quit

NHS Cambridgeshire’s stop smoking service CAMQUIT is encouraging employers to support smokers to quit.

Smoking increases the risk of illness and the likelihood of sickness absence and sickness absence costs money. Healthier people find it easier to concentrate on their work and improved productivity equates to money more.

That’s why NHS Cambridgeshire Stop Smoking service is offering medium to large business’s in Cambridgeshire the opportunity to provide work place smoking cessation services.

These services are free and can include:

- Work place smoking cessation clinic for up to seven weeks

- Information leaflets and posters with local service information

- Attendance at work place health events

Claire Mead, CAMQUIT Coordinator at NHS Cambridgeshire said: “We know that people are up to four times more likely to be successful at stopping smoking if they access support from an NHS service in combination with Nicotine Replacement Therapy. We are very excited to be able to offer this new initiative to workers, an in-house service really goes a long way at improving work life balance.”
