Volunteers at Peckover House in Wisbech have shown heart by donating a massive haul to the British Heart Foundation.
Property manager Paula Arnold said she saw an article in the BHF’s Heart Matters magazine about donations and set the volunteers a month-long challenge to gather 63 ties, 60 handbags and 60 pairs of shoes.
“I thought it would be a good idea to rally the volunteers at Peckover House to do something for another charity,” Paul said.
To her delight, the team of 100 volunteers smashed the target and last Tuesday presented the BHF with 191 ties, 74 handbags and 60 pairs of shoes.
The donation drive was so successful that they are going to do a different charity challenge each month.
Paula said, “A lot of our volunteers collect for different charities, such as towels for a dog home, bottle tops or stamps. It’s a nice thing for a group of people to do together.”
