FAMILY and friends gathered to take part in a golf match in memory of a colleague who died last year.

The Bob Johns Classic took place for the first time at Tydd St Giles Golf Club on Tuesday to mark the anniversary of Bob’s death and saw 80 of his family and sporting colleagues take to the green.

Playing in teams of four, they made their way around the 18-hole course.

There was also a raffle to raise additional money, with prizes donated from local businesses.

The event raised £1,030 for Cancer Research.

John Leake, Bob’s brother-in-law, thanked everyone who took part in the competition, for the support of Tydd St Giles Golf Club who donated the course for the day and he also thanked all the businesses who donated prizes.

It is hoped the Bob Johns Classic will become an annual event.
