Detectives are hunting two rapists who preyed on a woman in Wisbech.
The woman was physically and sexually assaulted in The Spinney Park on the evening of Sunday, February 7.
Police are appealing for more information into the attack.
Det Sgt Tracy Sawyer, who is investigating the case, said: “This was a very traumatic experience for the victim.
“I am keen to find out who carried out the attack and would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen something to get in touch.
“I would like to reassure members of the public that we believe this to be an isolated incident.” The woman, who is in her 40s, was walking from Prince of Wales Close towards Beechwood Road at around 9pm when she was approached by the two men.
She was then assaulted in the park.
The victim reported the incident to police on the following Tuesday evening.
Officers have since been out in the Waterlees area conducting door-to-door inquiries in a bid to gain more information.
News of the incident has shocked people in Wisbech who have been discussing their concerns on social media.
Fenland Police Insp Will Davis has reassured people in the town that this is an isolated incident.
He said: “My thoughts are with the victim, her family and friends at this time.
“I would like to reassure the community of Wisbech that this case is being treated with the utmost seriousness and we are doing all we can to bring the offenders to justice.
“I would echo the comments already made in that this offence is not common-place in the area and that we are treating this as an isolated incident.
“I would urge anyone with any information to come forward by calling 101 or by calling Crimestoppers.”
