Chatteris CC 1st XI continued their good home form with a solid eight-wicket win over Buntingford on Saturday.

Chatteris won the toss and decided to bowl first. Andy Wool took an early wicket, bowling his 12 overs straight through to finish with figures of 12-3-28-2.

It was once again the spin duo of Pete Munns and Shimron Thomas who dried up the runs and took wickets at regular intervals, Thomas finishing with 10-1-33-1 and Munns the exceptional figures of 9-3-9-5. Buntingford were eventually bowled out for 127.

When Chatteris went out to bat they showed how much of a good wicket it was.

Kurt Cunningham fell in the fifth over for 23, Ben Perry chipped one back to the bowler for 8 and that left Chatteris on 38-2.

Steve Piper played with aggression throughout his innings. He and Munns finished with 57 and 32 not out respectively, Piper hitting a six to win the match.

Captain Anthony Palmer said: “It was another all-round good performance, we bowled well and then were ruthless when chasing the runs down.

“Andy Wool and Pete Munns bowled superbly only conceding 37 runs from one end. Then Steve Piper batted superbly coming in at a cruical time.”

Next weekend Chatteris travel to CCA Senior 1 leaders Godolphin.
