Organisers of country and western events at March Braza Club have handed over a cheque to a local hospital in memory of one of their supporters.

Clarence and Jenny Lakey, who run country music events at the Braza presented the cheque for £440 to the Macmillan and Hudson Palliative Care Unit at Wisbech’s North Cambs Hospital on Thursday.

The money, which was raised by a recent event at the club in Elm Road, was presented in memory of Irene Racey the Lakey’s sister-in-law, who died of cancer in May this year.

Clarence said: “She used to help us run our country music afternoons and was a great supporter. She received such excellent care at the centre we wanted to do something in her memory to say thank-you.”
