Girlguiding Cambridgeshire are hosting an exclusive party as part of their celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Now the hunt is on for guests!
To receive an invite to the exclusive event on 1st September you must have completed your Queen’s Guide Award in Cambridgeshire or now live in Cambridgeshire having completed your award else where.
The Queen’s Guide Award was originally introduced in 1946 as the highest guiding accolade. It was developed as a special test for Guides with the aim of producing well rounded young women. The late Queen Mother then Queen herself gave permission for the award to carry the insignia of her crown, enhancing the honour of this royal badge. Over the years, the programme has developed to remain contemporary with the challenges young women face and is now the highest award for members of the Senior Section of Girlguiding UK. The Queen’s Guide Award gives participants the chance to develop their own skills while contributing to guiding and their local community at an impressive level.
County Commissioners for Girlguiding Cambridgeshire East and West, Sue Carpenter and Tracy Foster, are looking forward to the event. Sue said, “It will be wonderful to celebrate with Queens Guide Awards holders past and present, sharing great memories of Guiding together. The Queen’s Guide Award is a very personal achievement and award holders wear their brooches with pride”
