VISITORS puckered up and got behind a fundraiser for a March sheltered housing scheme.

Morton Avenue resident Hilda Boyce, who has reached the grand age of 96, threw herself into the fete and set herself up with a kissing booth.

She was delighted to raise £30 – which at 50p a kiss is not a bad result.

The fete made around £200 profit after costs, which will go towards the residents’ Christmas party, planned to be held at Cassano’s in March.

Brenda McCabe said: “It was a lot of work and the weather was against us. Lots of the residents are in their 80s and they feel the cold. But they all had a good time.”

• A weekly fundraising coffee morning is held at the Morton Avenue social club, on Tuesdays at 10.30am. Everyone is welcome to attend.
