Blow me - that’s clever

Children from Chatteris Glebelands School enjoyed an afternoon learning the skills of glassblowing with locally-based craftsman Stewart Hearn.

Two Year 2 classes went along to Stewart’s workshop in Chatteris High Street to learn how glass objects are made as part of this term’s

curriculum topic of how materials change.

Stewart, who is a master glassblower, gave the children a talk before demonstrating his art by creating a colourful tumbler.

Year 2 teacher Esther Fletcher said: “The children were absolutely enthralled watching Stewart. They found the whole thing really interesting and it really helped them understand how materials can be changed.”
