Cash boost for Robert

Fundraising for Wisbech man Robert Smith

Fundraising for Wisbech man Robert Smith

Disabled Wisbech man Robert Smith has been given another major boost thanks to the town’s Christian Spiritualist Church.

Two events organised by Linda Edwards from March and Sharon Scott from Wisbech and held at Cassanos in March raised just under £1,280 for Robert, who suffers from Proteus Syndrome, and has been bedridden for over three years.

Wisbech sisters Margaret Green and Barbara Elsey launched the Robert Smith Fundraising campaign back in the summer to raise money to buy 24-year-old Robert an electric wheelchair so he can get out and about. He has only been out of the house two or three times in the past three years and only once this year. Wisbech Christian Spiritualist Church decided to help the cause with fundraising efforts.

The first event was a charity bingo and the second was a Psychic Fayre and both were held at the March nightspot after owner Kevin McCourt offered the premises free of charge for the charity.
