Guyhirn couple Laura and Adam Cobb had their own version of the Christmas story with the arrival of their baby daughter Olivia Lucia.
The tiny tot weighed in at just 4lbs 11ozs at just before 10pm on Christmas Day more than 36 hours after proud mum Laura had her labour induced.
“I had an extra scan which showed the baby had stopped growing and because she was on the small side the doctors decided I should be induced. I was induced at 2pm on Christmas Eve and Olivia was finally born at 9.59pm on Christmas Day, so we missed Christmas almost completely,” explained Laura, who had husband Adam throughout the birth at King’s Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Olivia’s tiny weight meant she had to be fed through a nose tube for the first few days, which also meant an extra stay in hospital for her and Laura but they were home on December 29 in time to celebrate the New Year.
The new arrival is Adam and Laura’s first child and she is already putting on the ounces and now tips the scales at 5lbs 2ozs.
“We did manage to snatch a quick turkey dinner between the contractions, but it was totally worth it, and so far she is proving to be a good baby, sleeping between feeds,” added Laura.
