The new “all-in-one” Chatteris Community Hub received its official launch on Thursday.
The hub, based at the town’s library in Furrowfields, brings together the existing county council services at the library and the Fenland District Council services that were previously available from the @ your service shop in the High Street.
Cllr Martin Curtis said he was “thrilled” to see the hub open and added: “This is the way of the future. What I expect the people of Chatteris and the surrounding area to see as a result is an improved and more seamless service across both our councils.”
It has been hailed as a “groundbreaking scheme” by Cllr Alan Melton who said he was very proud to see it launched in his home town.
FDC services will now be available five days a week with staff on hand for an additional three hours a week. There will be a self-service payment kiosk for residents to pay Fenland services. Roddons tenants will also be able to make rent payments there.
