A young ballet dancer from Marshland St James has been selected for a role in Swan Lake at Norwich Theatre Royal.
This is a great opportunity for Demelza Mason (12), who attends Wisbech Grammar School, and will see her appearing as a Tsar’s courtier for three performances of the famous ballet.
Demelza, who trains at the Noise and Chance School of Dance, said: “This will be the second time I have danced with English Youth Ballet. Swan Lake is a really beautiful ballet.
“I have danced since I was absolutely tiny and I can’t remember what inspired me to start. A dancer that really inspires me is Darcey Bussell. I’ve got two of her books.”
The young dancers in the cast will dance alongside EYB’s stunning international principal artists in a professional production and will gain an insight into what life is like as a professional ballet dancer. Principal ballerina Julianne Rice Oxley praised the young dancers and their “wonderful team spirit”.
