Chatteris Midsummer Festival will be bursting into life later this week and promises fun for all the family.
But organisers of the popular festival are appealing for more tug of war teams to take on last year’s winners from The Sportsman on Sunday.
The festival, which will be held at Furrowfields Recreation Ground, will be kicking off on Friday with a history day for more than 400 school children.
This will be followed on Saturday by Party in the Park.
Funfair rides, stalls and living history encampments are all part of the fun, which starts from 10am.
A highlight of the day will be the walking parade, which leaves the Church Lane car park at 11am and make its way through to Furrowfields. The theme this year is the armed forces. Entries into the parade are still being accepted.
Other attractions at the Furrowfields includes a demonstration by the Clan Wulfar Vikings along with performances by The Outlaws. Local bands and singers will be performing in Party in the Park from 5pm.
The fun continues on Sunday with a dog show from 11am before the tug of war competition starts at noon. The contest is for teams of six and entry is £1 per person.
It’s A Knockout will be held at 2pm when teams of six to eight will be taking on a series of silly games and challenges. Entry is £2 per person.
Teams interested in either challenge will be able to register on Sunday morning.
