'Help us catch these cowards'

AN animal rights organisation is offering a £1,000 reward after eight ducks were killed in an overnight attack in March.

At least three ducks were found shot dead on Tuesday morning, but it is believed as many as eight had been killed in the night-time shootings.

PETA – the organisation for the ethical treatment of animals – has stepped in to offer a reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the barbaric crime.

PETA is also urging residents to keep a watchful eye on their own animal companions as a result of the attack.

"Animal abusers are cowards", says PETA spokesman Suzanne Barnard.

"They take their issues out on the most defenceless beings available to them."

A police spokesman confirmed the incident had been reported to them and they had carried out enquiries in the area where it happened.

Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to call the RSPCA on 0300-1234999 or March Police Station on 0845-4564564.
