A March man has presented a mammoth cheque to Cancer Research in memory of his wife who died of the disease five years ago.
The £3,320 cheque presented by Allan Wright in memory of his wife Carol (63) means the amount raised for Cancer Research now tops £15,000 in the years since her death.
The cash was raised at a clay pigeon shoot held at Wood Farm in Chatteris last weekend (October 5 and 6) which saw competitors from across the region vying for the top prize.
Refreshments were provided by staff from the Cancer Research shop in Fenland Walk, March, and manager Eileen Frost said they were delighted with the event’s success and paid tribute to Allan for the hard work he puts into organising the shoot.
Allan and Carol raised money for many years for the Heart Foundation, because Carol had a heart problem, and doctors believed that was what was making her ill, but then she died of cancer.
Allan himself has also had a brush with the disease.
