You have just one week left to submit your Pride in Fenland nominations.

We have had some excellent Good Neighbour nominations but we would like to see more Young Citizen and Group nominations. If there is a young person or group you feel really deserves some recognition, make sure they don’t go unrecognised.

Our first group nomination is for St Augustine’s Day Centre in Wisbech, run by Maxine Woodhouse and her team of volunteers. Service user Irene Burton said the volunteers deserve the title for all the work they do at the centre. Maxine also volunteers at Orchard House and raises money for charity.

Pride in Fenland is run by the Citizen and Fenland Council and the awards will be presented at a grand presentation ceremony on March 13 at Wisbech Boathouse.

We want your nominations for individuals, groups and young people who are the unsung heroes and heroines in our community.

The categories are: Good Neighbour – anyone who volunteers their time to a group or person; A group/club/organisation benefiting the community – A group that has really helped the community; and Young Citizen – Anyone aged 25 or under who deserves recognition.

Each category winner will receive a prize of £100 and there are trophies and prizes for the runners-up and certificates to all those nominated. The judges’ special award - which is chosen from all the nominations - also carries a £100 prize.

Using the form provided, tell us why you have made your nomination. Please include your contact details and those of the person nominated and the category you would like to put them into.

Feel free to include more details about your nomination on a separate sheet attached to the form as this extra information will help the judges to make their decision.

Nominations close at 5pm on February 5. Send them to the Fenland Citizen, 11 Union Street, Wisbech, Cambs PE13 1DN. Mark your entry Pride of Fenland. You can also nominate online by going on to our website: www.fenlandcitizen.co.uk

• Last week we incorrectly stated that a Young Citizen nominee was Samuel Jackson. His name is Samuel Johnson.
