The East Anglian Air Ambulance was temporarily grounded on Thursday over safety fears.

Helicopter operator Bond Air Services made the decision to ground several helicopters after an “indication defect” was detected in one of the EC135 models, the same as the air ambulance and also the police helicopter that crashed into a pub in Glasgow.

However, an investigation into the Scotland air crash determined there was no mechanical failure and Bond have received confirmation that the defect only affected one helicopter.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance has two of these helicopters, operating from Cambridge and Norwich, and its services were not affected by the temporary grounding, which lasted a few hours.
