A Wisbech bank worker is running the London Marathon on Sunday to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Lee Calton works at Halifax and has already raised more than £4,000 for the charity in the name of his aunt, Mandy Gamble.

Mandy, who lives in Terrington St Clement, was just 35 when she was diagnosed with the fatal neurological condition 12 years ago.

Although Lee’s marathon fundraising cannot go directly to her, he is hoping a request can be made to the charity for a voice box, like the one used by Stephen Hawking, that would enable Mandy to speak again.

Anyone wanting to sponsor Lee can visit his fundraising page at: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/LeeCalton

Sponsorship forms are also available to fill in at The Studio Hair Company in Blackfriars Road, Lynn, and the

Halifax branches in High Street, Lynn and Market Place, Wisbech.
