March Royal British Legion is supporting “Lights Out”.
The initiative is encouraging everyone in the UK to turn off their lights between 10pm and 11pm on August 4 – leaving only a single light or candle as a symbolic act of reflection and hope.
Gordon Glenton, from the March Royal British Legion branch, will be standing at the town’s war memorial with a storm lantern from 10pm.
He will then march to St Peter’s Church for the service at 11pm. Everyone is welcome.
The national chairman of the Royal British Legion has a vision to have candles being lit at every single war memorial, community centre and home all over Britain.
The aim is to commemorate every serviceman and woman who lost their lives during the First World War.
