March-based FACET has been given a cash boost by a Chatteris charitable organisation.

Members of the Chatteris Gray Masonic Lodge raised £250 by making cash donations instead of sending Christmas cards to friends and family and this was then matched by a donation from a Cambridge lodge.

The cheque was presented to staff and students at FACET at their Marwick Road headquarters on Tuesday by the Worshipful Master of the Gray Lodge Adrian Pease.

The money is likely to be used to buy new computer equipment for students to use.

John Seekings, charity steward for the Chatteris lodge, explained members had looked at various good causes before deciding on FACET, which they had chosen for its excellent work with people with learning difficulties.

And he said: “We hope that the publicity from our donation will help encourage more people to donate to this deserving cause. It is a very worthwhile organisation.”
