Meet new people and do something new in 2013

Museums across Fenland are looking for new volunteers to get involved and on Saturday (March 9) there’s a chance for those interested to find out more by visiting Wisbech museum.

David Wright, curator of Wisbech and Fenland Museum said: “You may think museums are not for you ...come along and surprise yourself.

“We welcome and encourage local residents to come along to the museum to find out more about the volunteering opportunities that are available here and at the other Fenland Museums including Octavia Hill Birthplace House, Chatteris, March and Whittlesey Museums. These are part of the Heritage Lottery Funded project ‘Wide Skies’. We’re inviting people to be part of something special and to support their local heritage.”

The volunteering opportunities are varied – marketing, education, event management, website design, greeting visitors, researching and cataloguing and much more!.

Volunteering at the museum is a fun and friendly experience. As well as helping with the museum’s activities volunteers meet new people and learn new skills.

Not sure if volunteering is for you? Why not go along on Saturday from 11am to 3pm to find out more.
