Murder latest

Father Paul West, parish priest of St Peter’s Church at Wisbech, has called for all of us to take extra care of elderly members in the community following the murder of Una Crown.

Speaking to the Citizen today, Father Paul said: “I was shocked and saddened to hear about the murder of the widow Una Crown. I thought to myself, ‘What if that had been my grandmother?’

“Our elderly people have a right to be safe in their own homes. Such terrible events cause fear and anger in our community. My response is to love, to pray for Una and her family and even her murder or murderers.

“This tragic event has made me think about the elderly people living around me, a wake up call to care more and call in on them. Wisbech is a wonderful town and violent crime has no place here.”
