New Fenland big cat sighting

ANOTHER big cat sighting has been reported by a Citizen reader.

The reader saw what he believes was a big cat while he was driving between Turves and March at about 5.30pm last Tuesday.

"About 30 yards ahead of me I caught in my headlights a large shape running across the road between the fields.

"It was bigger than a dog, sleek shaped and moving quickly across the road," the reader said.

This isn't the first time readers have reported sightings in this area.

Earlier this year, a reader travelling by train between Peterborough and March got in touch after seeing a panther-like animal on land in the same area.

There have been numerous big cat sightings in the Fens this year - in the Manea, Chatteris, Wisbech and March areas.

Cambs police has a wildlife officer, Paul Carter, collating details of all reported sightings and expert wildlife tracker Fiona Timms checked out some paw prints found at a Chatteris home earlier this year.
