New jobs service launching in Wisbech

People looking for work in Wisbech will soon have additional help to get back into employment.

Peterborough Regional College’s successful business arm, Jobsmart Employment Services, is branching out to Wisbech.

Jobsmart Peterborough was launched in September of this year as a complete employment service, the main aim being to help the unemployed get back into work through advertising vacancies and running work preparation academies.

This Friday (December 7) will mark the official launch of the service arriving in Wisbech and the Jobsmart team will be hosting an event to mark this at their new location of The Boathouse Business Centre.

Local businesses are welcome to come and attend the event between noon and 2pm to find out more about the Jobsmart service and how it can help them with their recruitment needs.

Jobsmart brings together training for job seekers and a platform to applying for vacancies through the firm links Jobsmart have with local employers and also with the Jobcentre for referring potential new students.

Jon Wyllie, Employment Service Manager for Jobsmart said: “Our courses are designed to keep people motivated and give them the skills they need to find work.

“Alongside traditional training methods, we work closely with Jobcentre Plus to offer additional support to job seekers to give them the best chance of finding work.

“We provide a jobs brokerage service for employers wanting to advertise vacancies, organise recruitment events, run regular work clubs and deliver sector based work academies.

“Our additional outreach centre location in Wisbech will really enable us to work with more employers within the Fenland area and help more residents prepare for and find employment.”

Stephen Wenn, Adviser Team Manager for the Wisbech Jobcentre said: “We’re very pleased to be working with Jobsmart to offer good quality training to jobseekers. The training available helps to keep people motivated and prepare them for work.

“We’re looking forward to setting up a Business Administration programme with Jobsmart to run in early 2013 which we hope will make a real difference to people looking for work in that area.”
