CHATTERIS has a new community notice board thanks to the town council.

Mayor John Chambers officially unveiled the notice board, which is situated in the gardens in High Street opposite Budgens supermarket, on Monday.

The board was partly funded by a £1,000 donation made by Fenland District Council to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with the town council providing the extra £1,500.

Town Council Clerk Joanna Melton said the board had been provided following public demand.

“We had a lot of people asking for a community notice board and we thought it would be a good way to mark the Queen’s Jubilee by providing one. It is for community use, which means clubs and organisations can promote themselves and what they have going on but it is not for commercial use.

“Posters, which should preferably be A4 size so we can accommodate as many as possible. They will be put up by me on a Monday and there will be a time limit on how long they will be displayed to keep the board fresh and relevant,” said Joanna.

Notices from the town council will also be displayed.

Notices and posters should be handed in at the town council chambers in Church Lane.
