Police name couple who died on A47 at Terrington St John

The man and woman who died after being struck by a car on the A47 at Terrington St John on Sunday have now been named by police.

The man has been named as Tadas Zaleskas, 26, and the woman is believed to be Nonita Karajevaite, 24.

Both Tadas and Nonita, an engaged couple originally from Lithuania, lived at an address in Church Road, Emneth.

Tadas was a factory worker in March, and Nonita, a part-time beautician, was also employed as a factory worker in Wisbech.

Their families have been informed and are being supported by police.

The couple both died after being struck by a car as they walked along the A47 eastbound carriageway at around 2.15pm on Sunday, July 18.

Nonita’s death is being treated as suspicious following reports she was pushed into oncoming traffic.

An inquest will be opened and adjourned in due course as the police investigation into their deaths continues.
