Elm C of E Primary School is in shock this morning after its secretary was killed in a fatal collision yesterday evening (Thursday).

Carolyn Jobson (64), of Arles Avenue in Wisbech, was cycling on Friday Bridge Road in Elm at around 5pm when she was involved in a collision with a Skoda Felicia.

Mrs Jobson died at the scene. The Skoda driver, a 65-year-old woman from Wisbech, suffered slight injuries.

Mrs Jobson was secretary at the primary school and due to retire soon. The school is preparing a statement that will be released later today.

She was also clerk of Wisbech St Mary Parish Council. Chairman Brian Payne praised his colleague, who had served the council for 15 years.

He said: “My colleagues and I are profoundly shocked by the news of Carolyn’s death. She served the council with distinction and we will greatly miss her advice and guidance. We send our condolences to her husband Keith.”

PC Simon Burgin, investigating, said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision, or any of the vehicles involved just prior to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information should contact PC Burgin at the Roads Policing Unit on 101.
