UPDATE: One man airlifted to hospital after March crash

One man was airlifted to hospital and another was injured after a lorry and dustcart collided on a March industrial estate this morning (Friday).
The incident on Hostmoor Avenue happened at 6.35am and police are appealing for anyone who saw it or the vehicles prior to the collision to come forward.
Four fire crews attended – from March, Chatteris and the rescue vehicle from Dogsthorpe – and the air ambulance was flown in.
The Magpas team worked alongside an ambulance crew to assess a man in his 30s who suffered a broken leg. He was taken to Peterborough City Hospital in a land ambulance.
A second man in his 40s also suffered serious leg and pelvic injuries. The Helimedix – made up of Doctor Vijayasankar and paramedic Mark Glover – assessed the patient, working alongside an East Anglian Air Ambulance double paramedic team.
His leg was put in a splint before he was sedated and flown to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. On arrival, he was in a critical but stable condition.
The lorry is believed to have been parked and the dustcart was moving; the injured men were in the dustcart and had to cut free by firefighters.
A statement from Fenland District Council, who run the refuse collection service, said: “An accident involving one of our refuse drivers and two of our refuse loaders happened this morning at about 6.30am on Hostmoor Avenue in March.
“The refuse freighter hit the rear of a parked lorry. The Police, Fire and Ambulance Services were all in attendance, including the Air Ambulance.
“Two members of staff have suffered serious injuries and have been taken to Addenbrookes and Peterborough hospitals. The third man was not seriously injured.
“Our service teams were quickly on the scene to assist the emergency services, and the Police are undertaking an accident investigation.
“Naturally we have notified the families and will be doing everything we can to provide them and the two members of staff with all possible support and assistance.”
