A change in the price structure at Hudson Leisure Centre has upset some members.

Stephen Horton contacted the Citizen after he was told he will no longer be able to use the gym at the centre before 9.30am without paying an extra £10 per month.

Mr Horton, who is retired, said he preferred to go early in the morning but on the new package, from April he can only go between 9.30am and 4.30pm. If he wants to go earlier, he will have to pay more.

A Fenland Council spokesperson said: “We’re sorry about the impact that this change may have on some people. However, because the new prices are no longer based on age but on the times people use the facilities, the options available from April 1 will enable cheaper daytime access for everyone in Fenland. Consequently, many of our current members will be able to save money.

“The leisure service currently has more than 2,500 monthly members and those potentially affected by the change represent less than 10 per cent of that membership.”
