Following last month’s independent public examination into Fenland District Council’s Core Strategy, the council has just embarked on a six-week consultation on proposed changes to the plan.

The consultation started on Tuesday and will continue until February 24. The proposed changes result from discussions at the public hearings held by Claire Sherratt, a government appointed Planning Inspector.

The public’s views are being sought as the final round of public consultation before the Inspector produces her findings on whether the plan is sound and can be adopted by the council.

The council supports all the main changes, but it will be for the Inspector to decide which of them should be included in her final report. She may also include other main changes in addition to the ones listed in the council’s endorsed schedule.

It is important to note that comments are only being invited on the actual changes proposed. This is not an opportunity to make wider comments on the content of the plan or to repeat any previous representations made.

The report is likely to be completed by the beginning of March. Once published it will be available for viewing on the council’s website. The decision on whether to adopt the plan will be taken by a full meeting of the council following its approval by the Cabinet.

The Core Strategy will be the council’s main tool for planning new development and growth in the district until 2031.

The proposed changes can be viewed at: www.fenland.gov.uk/article/8178/. or at the One Stop shops and libraries. Consultation ends at 5pm on February 24 .
