Water main caused trouble in March

Residents in March and the surrounding villages had water problems on Friday after a major water main burst in the early hours of the morning.

Hundreds of homes were affected, with low water pressure being the main inconvenience as water was diverted from other areas. Some people were left without water between 2am and 4am before the water was diverted.

Antony Innes, from Anglian Water, said hundreds of customers experienced lower than usual water pressure and some had cloudy or discoloured water following the burst 18 inch water main. Engineers worked through the day and into the early hours of Saturday morning in freezing conditions to repair the main.

Mr Innes said: “We appreciate how frustrating the problems would have been for customers and are sorry for the impact this will have caused. We are now looking at further investment in this area to significantly reduce the chances of similar problems in future.”
